Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Tambaram is situated at Madambakkam Camp ,which is 3 kilometers away from Tambaram railway station .Established in the year 1964 the school was started in a temporary building. It moved on to its permanent structure in 1979 .The school campus is spread over in an area of 10 acres.
The infrastructure includes a state of air conditioned computer laboratories with broadband internet facilities, spacious playground, auditorium, well equipped library, Science laboratory and an audiovisual room .
The school is a miniature India that insist in its students, fervour of patriotism ,brotherhood and National Integration .The Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central schools) have come to be known as centers of excellence in the field of secondary and senior secondary education. The vidyalaya ensures its students total personality development and academic excellence.
